2004 marked the 21st anniversary of the French Quarter Festival, a nonprofit organization that produces this free festival. Proceeds from food, beverages, merchandise and vendor booth sales make it possible to pay the musicians, police and staff. It's dubbed as the "world's largest jazz brunch" with food vendors from all over the city. No cotton candy or corn dogs at this festival! The French Quarter Festival featured 15 stages scattered throughout the Quarter with the sounds of jazz, blues, funk, zydeco and more!
