2004 marked the 35th anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival! Headliners included Lenny Kravitz, Robert Cray, Santana, The Funky Meters, Rockin' Dopsi, Branford Marsalis, Steve Winwood, Dr. John, Bonnie Raitt, The Steve Miller Band, Gap Band, Smokey Robinson and, of course, the Neville Brothers and the Radiators closing out on the final day. As always, the festival is well-organized and prepared for the crowds. With the exception of one rain-out day (sorry Harry Connick, Jr.), it went off without a hitch. In honor of 35 years of memorable moments, the Jazz & Heritage Foundation honored photographer Michael P. Smith by displaying large canvasses of his photographs of the fest. Awesome! Bruce Brice was also given a prominent spot inside the grandstands for his southern art with exceptional detail.
