Jeni Genter has been painting professionally in a variety of mediums and subjects for the past thirty years. She was born in South Bend Indiana, but was raised in Florida and moved to New Orleans from Key West in 1972.

Jeni attended Indiana University and holds a fine arts degree. She also continued her education in business and works as an accountant. Because she feels there is so much to learn and experience from others in the art world, she continues to take classes and is currently enrolled at the University of New Orleans and New Orleans Fine Arts academy. She has been involved in many different shows and galleries and has collected her share of awards and ribbons.

Jeni took an interest in art at an early age. Her father, an artist himself, became her first teacher. Various styles such as impressionism and cubism are seen in her work. She is however unique in her development of the Louisiana flounder print and fish series.

Just as her subject matter varies, so does her paint. Working in many different mediums-sometimes combining two and three into one piece. Her favorite, however, is oils. Oil colors are brilliant, and the mixture of them become building blocks of tone and texture. Many times she chooses a color complementary to her palette to create a color play with subsequent undertone layers creating an overall richness and glow.
