Historical hand-tinted black & white infrared images of Hurricane Katrina by award-winning photojournalist Brian Lukas. Hurricane Katrina is one of the most tragic stories in American History. Some of the first images coming out of New Orleans and broadcast nationally on television came from Brian Lukas as he ventured onto the streets of New Orleans at the height of the storm. The pictures are riveting.
Some of the images are physically gone from the landscape. Brian hand-tinted one element of each infrared photograph to draw the viewer's attention to one section that may create some sense of proportion.
