Andrea Mistretta has been drawing since she was three years old. Andrea's dad, John, a silkscreen painter, kept her in plenty of scrap paper while she was growing up and Mom Rose was a great inspiration. Though Andrea is essentially a self-taught artist, she learned most by observing the standards of excellence practiced by those in the field of illustration she chose to enter in 1979. Since then, Andrea has been honored with many awards and accolades related to her art, including those from the Society of Illustrators, The Art Directors Club and has been a recipient of the prestigious Vargas Award.

Andrea's studio is situated on tranquil White's Pond in the town where she grew up with her husband videographer, Perry Quaranta. Though she hails from this town only an hour from New York, she is considered a New Orleans local artist and is an official honorary citizen because of her 20 year association with creating the popular New Orleans Mardi Gras Posters series. Always proud of her Italian heritage, she loves to entertain friends and family with her "Cucina Italiana". She has visited Italy several times to search and find her family roots and to visit one of the original Carnival celebrations in Venice.
